How many students participate in each session of the Yale Young Global Scholars Program? Is admission competitive? For more FAQs click here.Faqs ?
The New Haven sessions are capped at about 250 students per session. These sessions include Applied Science and Engineering (ASE), International Affairs and Security (IAS), Frontiers of Science and Technology (FST), Sustainable Development and Social Entrepreneurship (SDSE), Biological and Biomedical Science (BBS), and Politics, Law, and Economics (PLE). We believe in limiting the size of our sessions so that students and instructors will have more opportunities to work together, and so that all session participants can live together in one of Yale’s historic residential colleges.
Asia in the 21st Century (ATC) session is limited to 90 students. This smaller program size ensures that program participants get to know each other on a more substantial level, and it promotes a strong sense of community amongst participants, instructors, and staff.
Admission to each session of the program is very selective; for summer 2017, YYGS accepted 24% of applicants for all six sessions. While there is no competitive advantage to applying early, we encourage you to submit application materials as early as they are available to ensure that your application is complete by February 6, 2018.
