NTSE Eligibility Criteria 2018-2019
NTSE exam is conducted in 2 stages. The NTSE exam stage 1 is conducted by the state board and NCERT takes the stage 2 of NTSE. The students must meet the eligibility criteria to appear for the NTSE exam 2019.
The students can appear for the NTSE exam only if he or she is an Indian national or a student of Indian origin. The upper age limit as defined for the NTSE exam takers is 18 years. The students who are pursuing class 10 from open school can also appear for the exam.
The students who are in class 9th can also appear for the NTSE exam. The student must pass the class IX exam with 60 % score. The NTSE examination reservation policy is same for all the students. The percentage reservation offered continues the same for all the students studying in India or abroad.
NTSE exam eligibility criteria must be completely understood before applying for the NTSE exam. The students must know that the eligibility criteria for NTSE exam stage 1 and stage 2 are different. The NTSE exam eligibility criteria in details for both the stages are as follows:
NTSE 2019 Eligibility Criteria Stage 1
- The NTSE exam requires students to be registered with the State/UT exam conducting authority. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
- The students who are in class 10th can also apply for the exam.
- The students who wish to give NTSE exam in class 10th must have cleared class 9th examination from a recognized board. The student must have completed the class 9th examination with a minimum of 60% marks.
- The candidates must have obtained degree recognized by the board.
- The students who have completed/appearing for class 10th examination and are registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) can appear for the NTSE exam 2018-19. The student must be below 18 years of age and must not be employed.
NTSE 2019 Eligibility Criteria Stage 2
- Students who have secured more than 80% marks in state board are eligible for stage 2 of the NTSE exam 2018-19.
- Every year around 4000 students appears for the stage 2 of the NTSE exam. The students who clear the NTSE exam stage 2 with the minimum marks defined are eligible for scholarships.
NTSE 2019 Reservation policy for Indian nationals
The NTSE exam council will follow some rules defined by the Indian Government. The student must be Indian nationals. The students who qualify the NTSE exam stage 2 examinations will be getting reservation benefits.
The general category candidates must secure 40% marks in each of the NTSE examination. The reserved category students need to secure 32% marks in each of the NTSE exams. The NTSE reservation scheme is as follows:

NTSE exam 2019 Reservation Scheme for Indian Nationals Studying Abroad
The students of Indian origin who are completing class 10 from any foreign board or school will be getting a scholarship only if he/she studies further in India. The reservation ratio percentage scheme in NTSE exam is as follows the criteria:
